The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

S.J.Gray replaced A.P. Crowe on Dark Vagabond, trained by I.Madden (Race 7)(injured)

297B Cashel M'dn H'dle

S.G. McDermott, rider of Siobhans Belle trained by Miss Elizabeth Anne Lalor, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.

297C Powerstown Demesne (QR) H'cap H'dle

The Stewards interviewed Mr A. McCurtin, rider of Hard Bought concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence,the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10 3(f),(g) and 4, having used the whip with excessive frequency, above shoulder height and without giving his mount time to respond. Having considered his record in this regard, he was suspended for two race days .

R.C. Colgan, rider of Sweet Shock (GER) trained by Michael O'Hare, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount pulled up lame.

The Stewards enquired into the fall of Compton Court (GB), ridden by P.T. Enright, just past the stands with a circuit remaining. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and also from B.J.Cooper, rider of Kostar and J.L.Cullen, rider of Wrong Way Corrigan. Having considered the evidence and viewed a recording of the race, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and took no further action.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Cool Oscar, trained by P. Hogan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race.

297F Clonmel Oil Raceday November 14 Hcap Sch

The Stewards requested a report from M.F.Morris, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Baily Dusk, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge may have benefited from a change in tactics in first time blinkers. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

297G Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Mares) Beg.Sch

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Civena trained by J.A.Berry was post race normal.

R. Walsh, rider of Civena trained by J.A.Berry, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a mistake at the first and never travelled thereafter.

D.E. Splaine, rider of Grande Milan trained by Gerard Kelleher, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a mistake at the second and lost her confidence thereafter.

Owing to the low lying sun, the Stewards granted permission for the first fence in the straight to be omitted.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of The Blarney Rose, ridden by Mr B. Crowley, and trained by Eugene M. O'Sullivan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Mr B. Crowley, stated that his instructions were to settle his mount towards the rear, taking into account that she can race freely when amongst other horses. He added that he was inconvenienced by some fallers in the back straight and suffered interference in the straight. In hindsight, he accepted that he may have exaggerated the waiting tactics and misjudged things. Eugene M. O'Sullivan, confirmed the instructions and added that he would have preferred to see the horse ridden closer to the pace . The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that The Blarney Rose was tied up behind post race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the trainers explanations, however they were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 212 and having considered his record, suspended him for seven race days.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined The Blarney Rose, trained by Eugene M. O'Sullivan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race.
